“Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, to assure the survival and success of liberty.”
–John F. Kennedy
Brilliant man. I watched a piece yesterday about his young life when he was enlisted in the navy. After their ship was blown up, he saved several of his men by swimming miles toting them along to get to an island in shark infested waters and then swam out again to find a tribe on another island who delivered a coconut engraved with their location to our military. They were saved 2 days later. I loved this story. Kennedy had a small piece of that coconut made into a paperweight that graced his desk. It’s a shame his life ended too soon.
Yes, I’ve seen it, too! Great one! I was only five when he died, but I remember the day vividly. His mission here on earth ended too soon.
