I’m serving champagne and peach tarts, so get comfy and let’s find out more from Chrys…

MM: Welcome, Chrys! Thrilled you could be here today. Describe a typical writing day. Are you a morning, afternoon, or night-owl writer?

CF: A typical day for me starts with blogging and checking emails in the morning. I do client edits in the afternoon, if I have a client’s project waiting for me. If I don’t have client edits, I work on my WIP. Late afternoon and evening times are the most productive for my writing. I used to be a night-owl writer, staying up to almost 3 in the morning, but not anymore. Every day I turn off my computer or laptop at 8 o’clock. A notebook and pen is my source for writing then while I relax on the couch.

MM: I’ve never been able to write late in the evening, Chrys. As a rule, I turn off all electronics at 7pm, unless I’m watching a show or movie. I need the “down time.” Can you tell us about your current work-in-progress?

CF: Sure. My current WIP is Book 4 in the Disaster Crimes Series. Book 2 is now available and Book 3 has been sent to my publisher for consideration, so Book 4 is getting my writing attention. This disaster is a burning one. *wink wink*

MM: Ooo…sounds interesting! What inspires you when you’re writing?

CF: Music. I have to listen to music. Whatever scene I have to write I always find music to match it. And since I write a lot of suspense and action scenes, rock music is always my go-to choice.

MM: I’m smiling here, Chrys. Music is my muse! What’s your favorite item on your writing desk?

CF: My cats! Haha. I have four cats (Cole, Clover, Milo and Otis) and several times during the day one of them will be stretched out beside my keyboard. Right now, as I type this, Clover (a black-and-gray tabby) is occupying the space.

MM: Aww…precious! Hmm…Milo and Otis? Psst…loved the movie! Great names. Now for the fun questions. Do you prefer…

Champagne or Beer? Champagne. I never acquired the taste for beer.

Southern drawl or Scottish burr? Irish lilt! lol Okay, so I cheated. Southern drawl.

Kilt or Leather pants? Faded jeans. 😉 I did it again…leather pants.

Print book or e-reader? Both! But I still love a print book.

Wishing you all the best with Seismic Crimes, Chrys!

More, he wants her by his side in his darkest moments.

  1. Linda Romer

We had gone through a hurrican on Staten Island, NY where I live but we were very lucky compared to many others. Only losing our power for three days and minimal damage to home.

  2. Thank you do much for having me on your blog, Mary! And I did name the twins after the movie Milo and Otis. 😀

  3. Boy am I glad I live in land locked Colorado. Although we do have our bouts with Mother Nature and hail, wind, rain, snow and sun, but it can all be in a 24 hour period. LOL

Loved the interview. Nice job ladies! Hi Mary!!!

Looking forward to reading you books. Have a super weekend.

  4. Hurricane Crimes? I like that title and enjoyed the interview. Good luck with promotion and sales. Write on!

  5. Hi Chrys
I love that you have chosen to write about these natural events so rife with drama. Hurricane Sandy was very tough on me and my family as well.

    • I’m so sorry, Charlotte. Natural disasters can be horrific, and I’m blessed that the earthquakes I’ve lived through did not do any serious damage, or take the life of a friend or family. We are at the mercy when the destructive power of Mother Nature strikes.

      Thank you for visiting. 🙂

  6. Lori H

No, we have been very fortunate.

  7. Dianne

Loved the book. I can’t wait for the next one. Thank you both for taking the time to share the behind the scenes details.
