There are times when our dreams take us to places we’ve only imagined. Where we travel across to different realms, or to times past.
If the dream is full of wonder and beauty, we awake with a sense of the vision still lingering in our mind and body.
I have had many like these…whisking me away to places that I long to return. Dreams can be powerful — providing us with hidden messages that we have to ponder later.
With my heroine, Brigid O’Neill, she dreams of meeting a Highlander. Yes, her dreams are erotic, but there’s also a hidden message. She is driven by the encounter, as if her soul has left and reunited with a love from long ago. Belief and non-belief battle within her, until the day she steps through the veil of time.
I had to create a character to not only stand up, defy, and do battle with a dark, tormented warrior, but one who believed in spirits, faeries, and the unexplained. She’s temperamental and sharp-tongued, and will give all to the man she loves.
Excerpt, Dragon Knight’s Sword ~
The tall dark figure stepped forth from the shadow
of the trees, and she froze.
Her warrior had returned.
Raw masculinity poured off him, and her legs went
weak. His stance was fierce, and his gaze at her spoke
of lust and possession.
He was unlike any man she had seen before.
Brigid licked her lips, and watched as his eyes
followed the movement. She was locked into eyes that
were flared with desire.
“Who are you?” she asked breathlessly.
His eyebrow rose a fraction, as if sending the
question back out to her.
“Ye ken who I am,” his husky burr low and
seductive.
He moved slowly toward her, the heat from his
body flooding her senses. She could hear lightning and
thunder rumbling in the distance.
“Say it…say my name,” he murmured across her
cheek, right before his lips devoured hers, and her
world dissolved in a dizzying vortex of pleasure.
With a gasp, Brigid woke up.
Have you traveled anywhere or met anyone in your dreams?

Thank you, Sydney! I absolutely loved writing Duncan and Brigid’s story. The led me down a path I never saw coming… 🙂
Once again a great taste of what is to come in the book!!!
I do not think I have ever had a dream become reality but I have had
“awake fantasies” turn into the real thing. How surprising to have that
happen.

About dreams…I had them for several weeks after the Games and when I woke up I felt like I was looking for something. My heart felt ripped from my body and brought me to tears. I admit I was glad they stopped. Mary, I don’t know how much longer I could have taken them…. I’ll email you about them.
You found a connection at the games, Leah. Sometimes, writing them down helps. (((HUGS)))
*sigh*
Alas, my dreams have never been that good. 🙁
Ahh….it depends on the interpretation, Cutieb. 😉
